El Sazón de Alférez is a Mexican family-owned business serving authentic & traditional dishes from Oaxaca, México with a modern twist. The idea began 20 years ago when our mother created a buffet for a family party. She has a gift for cooking authentic Oaxacan food, specifically dishes from Tlacolula. Her recipes have been passed down from our indigenous relatives of the Tlacolula region of Oaxaca. Finally in 2018, we opened our catering page in Facebook which has grown over the years.
After 6 years and hundreds of caterings, we are expanding to our first Brick & Mortar in DTLA. Through our restaurant and catering services, we will continue to bring the amazing culinary experience that El Sazón de Alférez has to offer.
El Sazón de Alférez aims to expand the wealth of culinary ancestral knowledge of Alférez by introducing it to the community of Los Angeles and beyond. Our menu is inclusive to all people, even those with dietary restrictions and preferences.
